Großer Falkenstein

At 1315 metres, the Großer Falkenstein is the second highest mountain in Lindberg municipality after Lackenberg Mountain.

There are no less than five areas of protected pristine woodland to explore on the slopes of the Falkenstein massif. Falkenstein Mountain can be reached from multiple trailheads. Please be aware that no lifts or access roads are available for visitors.

The summit plateau serves up fantastic views to the west and southwest towards Großer Arber and the mountain range of the outer Bavarian Forest.

On clear days, it even boasts panoramic views of the Alps. The picturesque valley basin of Zwieseler Winkel nestles right at the foot of Großer Falkenstein.

The mountain’s very own mountain hut is open daily from May to October, as well as at the weekend during winter (accommodation available).
