Dobrá Voda by Hartmanice
Dobrá Voda is an ancient pilgrimage place with a spring of allegedly healing water. Before 1989 the place had been part of the administrative centre of the extensive military training area for four decades.
Museum exposition and information centre of the Šumava National Park can be found in the native house of Dr. Šimon Adler, significant rabbi, pedagogue and scholar. The Church of Blessed Gunther was built in 1706 in place of the old chapel from the order of the Baron František Karel Villani. The artistic glass-maker Vladěna Tesařová (*1958) created a glass altar rear-table with the scene of Crucifixion and displaying the saints from the area of central Europe with Saint Gunther in head in 2001. It is a three-part relievo with the dimensions of 4,5m x 3,2m and the weight of almost four tonns, which makes it a completely unique piece of art, however linking to the tradition of glass-making in the Šumava.
