Mittagsplatzl
Friedl Thorward, the Bavarian Forest’s most prominent mountaineer, once called the 1,340 m Mittagsplatzl “the most beautiful place in the entire forest”.
However, what makes the mountain meadow of the Mittagsplatzl so special is perhaps not obvious right away. That’s because you first have to follow the trail to the edge of the rock on the plateau to reveal the stunning view of Großer Arbersee lake, the Bohemian Forest and Großer Falkenstein in the Bavarian Forest National Park.
This is an unforgettable sight which makes the challenging trail to the Mittagsplatzl from the peak of Großer Arber undoubtedly worth the effort!
